website of Amritsar Improvement Trust, Amritsar. Amritsar Improvement
Trust was constituted on the 2nd April, 1949 with an aim to develop
and provide Residential and Commercial Plots, Flats, Booths, SCO's
etc. to the people of Amritsar. The Trust has acquired 3300 acres
of land so far and developed 77 Nos. of Residential/ Commercial/
Schemes. Out of 77 Schemes, 45 Schemes have been transferred to
Municipal Corporation, Amritsar u/s 55 of Punjab Town Improvement
Act., 1922 after completion i.e. after providing all basic amenities
such as roads, W/s and Sewerage, Parks, Street lights etc.
The Trust has allotted
approximately 23,000 Nos. Residential Plots, 6900 Nos. Commercial
Units and 125 Nos. institutional sites falling in various Trust
Schemes. To cop with the problems of houses, Trust has constructed
366 Nos. EWS Flats, 144 Nos. LIG Flats, 384 Nos. MIG Flats and
316 Nos. HIG Flats in different trust Schemes. Dharam Singh Market
Scheme, Ghanta Ghar Market Scheme and Mahan Singh Market Scheme
has been Developed as purely commercial schemes. In opposite Novelty
Sweets Scheme, a multi storied Shopping complex has been constructed
having 376 Shops on different Floors with adequate parking facility.
The Trust has also provided a district Shopping Centre in 17 Acres
land in Ranjit Avenue Scheme with modern facilities.
The Trust is going to complete
multistoried parking at Lawrence Road (capacity of 200 Car and
300 Scooter Parking), 48 HIG & 60 MIG Flats as New Amritsar
Scheme. The Trust has allotted 145 Nos. MIG Flats in New Amritsar
Scheme recently by draw of lots and construction work for these
flats has been started.
The Trust has invited application
for the allotment of 84 MIG Flats in Ranjit Avenue Block, 48
MIG Flats in New Amritsar Scheme. The Draw for which is going
to be conducted very soon.
The award of 211 acres scheme
known as Mall Mandi Scheme is announced by the Land Acquisition
Collector. for this purpose, Trust has raised a loan at very reasonable
rate of 7% pre annum. The Trust is going to take possession of
this scheme very shortly. After acquisition of this scheme, the
Trust will be in a position to allot 100 Sq. yds., 150 Sq. yds,
200 Sq. yds. and 250 Sq. yds plots to the public through draw
Keeping in view the more demand
of plots in Amritsar city, the Trust has notified a new Residential
Scheme measuring 188 acres to be known as "New Amritsar Expansion
On Court Road near Annam
it has been decided to provide a multistoried commercial complex
with adequate parking. For this an Architectural design competition
has been invited from the Renowned Architects.

developed in Dist. Shopping Center Scheme which will be a land
There is a proposal to provide
60 Sq yds. small flats with two rooms to the weaker section at
Mall Mandi Scheme and at Fatehpur Road.
Efforts are being made to provide
a 40' wide road to Shree Harimandir Sahib from Ghee Mandi Chowk
for which negotiation are going with the land owners.
97, Acres land falling in Ranjit
Avenue Scheme for which Court Case has decided the case in Trust
favour, is being developed as Main Commercial and Tourist Centre.
Trust has recently auctioned a Hotel site in Dist. Shopping Center
and Patrol Pump Site in Kabir Park and received a highest bid
in the history of Trust. The Trust is also going to Auction other
Commercial sites in various schemes namely Truck Stand Scheme,
Nehru Shopping Complex, Ranjit Avenue 'E' Block, Ajit Nagar etc.
